Hello, my name is Christopher M. Ritzi, and I am basically
from various places in Texas. I was born in Worcester, Massachusetts,
and then moved about the country until settling in Lubbock, Texas.
This is were I lived from elementary school through high school. I then
moved to College Station (where I earned my Bachelor's in Biology), Ponder
(before I got married), and Alpine (where I earned my Master's in Biology at
Sul Ross State University). I then lived in Terre Haute, Indiana, were I
defended my dissertation toward a Ph.D. in Ecology in the Department of Life Sciences at
Indiana State University. In Aug 2004, I have moved back to
Alpine, Texas, and begun my current job as an Assistant Professor of
Invertebrate Biology at Sul Ross State University. In the summer of
2007, I was appointed the Chair of the Biology Department. As of the
fall of 2010, I officially received tenure and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of
Biology.
My family is made up of my wife,
Clare, and my daughters, Catherine and Teresa. We live together with 3 cats (Star, Xena,
and Jinx) and a variable number of fish
(which are all Dorothy to my youngest thanks of Elmo).
When I am not teaching or working, I like to cook, read, knit, and do things
outside (hike, camp, bird watching).
More to come.
