Robert C. Cullins, Jr., graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana with a B.S. in Industrial Technology in 1970. After a two-year tour in the Army, completed his M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services at Northwestern and then joined their staff. While at Northwestern, Mr. Cullins served as Coordinator of the Office of Veteran's Affairs (1974-75) and Assistant Director of Housing (1973-74) as well as a part-time instructor of Industrial Education.

Mr. Cullins returned to his home town of Tyler, Texas, in 1975, and joined the staff of Tyler Junior College, first as Technology Counselor and Placement Director (1975-82), then as Director of Institutional Studies and Reports (1982-87), Director Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (1986-87) and finally as Registrar (1987-89). During his fifteen years at Tyler Junior College, Mr. Cullins taught courses in psychology, education and drafting on a part-time basis. In 1990 he accepted the position of Director of Admissions and Records at Westark Community College in Fort Smith, Arkansas and served there until 1994.

A die-hard Texan, Mr. Cullins was anxious to return to Texas after a few years in Arkansas, and joined the staff of Sul Ross State University as Dean of Admissions and Records in August of 1994 and no serves as Registrar. The Office of the Registrar operates on an "open door" philosophy making all staff members, including the Registrar, readily accessible to students.

Responsible for admissions and records, Mr. Cullins' varied background in college administration has given him a unique understanding of the needs of students and the knowledge to develop innovative approaches to meeting those needs while maintaining the integrity of university records.

An active member of the Lions Club, Mr. Cullins serves as the Secretary-Treasurer and enjoys the opportunity to serve not only the Alpine community but the West Texas region. He is married to Melinda Mills Cullins and has two sons, Carlton and Luke, three cats, twenty-five deer, thirteen javelinas, four racoons, and two skunks. When not feeding the yard pets, Mr. Cullins enjoys fishing, hunting, traveling, photography, and reading.
