Associate Professor of Psychology
Dr. Culver, Associate Professor of Psychology, earned her Bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University and her Master’s from Mississippi State University in Educational Psychology. Dr. Culver completed her dissertation and earned her Ph.D. at Mississippi State University. She has taught courses at East Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University and Delta State University. She is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Sul Ross Rio Grande College.
During her employment at East Mississippi Community College from 2002-2005, Dr. Culver taught several sections of Human Growth and Development. At Mississippi State University (2002-2005), Dr. Culver taught Human Growth and Development and Education Statistics Labs for both undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Culver taught Educational Psychology, Psychology of Learning, Research Methods, Introduction to Psychology and Child Abuse and Neglect at Delta State University (2005-2009).
Dr. Culver’s current teaching responsibilities at Sul Ross Rio Grande College include Child Development, Adult Development, Lifespan Development, Learning Psychology, Applied Psychology (Adjustment), Gerontology, Human Sexuality, Forensic Psychology, Educational Psychology, Research Methods, Psychological Testing, Cognitive Psychology, Health Psychology, Special Topics: Intimate Relationships, Special Topics: Child Abuse and Neglect, Special Topics: Gender and Special Topics: Writing fo Psychology Majors.
Dr. Culver has also worked on several research projects as a Data Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research at Mississippi State University. Her primary research interests include reading compliance, comprehension, metacognitive strategies and self-regulation. Dr. Culver enjoys presenting and attending conferences such as Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) and Mid-South Educational Research Association (MSERA). She has also pubished manuscripts in many peer-reviewed journals.
