Program Initiatives

  • Created and implemented in 2010, jointly with Dr. Ferris Roger Byxbe, the SRSU-Rio Grande College ONLINE Bachelors of Science degree in criminal justice. This program was designed to enhance educational opportunities for working practitioners and others who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree in criminal justice.

  • In 2012, assisted, as an “Amicus Curiae,” the prestigious Austin, Texas law firm of Johns Marrs Ellis & Hodge in the drafting of a Supreme Court amicus brief (on behalf of the Mexican government), involving a Mexican national (Rosa Estela Olvera Jimenez) who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
  • Have served as an “external (outside) reviewer” for Professors’ candidacy for tenure and promotion (to Associate or Full Professor), which involves a review/assessment of the candidates “academic record” (i.e., teaching, scholarship, and service), including curriculum vitae, narrative of their philosophical approach to their respected profession, accomplishments, publications, ongoing research, and other creative scholarship.
