December 4, 2015:        Eagle Pass, Texas

I cordially invite you to join us for a book signing event on my latest book, with Dr. Claudia Rodriguez Wright, LATINO ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION:  Ethnic Realities and New Directions for the Twenty-First Century (2016), documenting a story of struggle, perseverance, dreams, and success.  Soon after its publication, the book is receiving positive reviews, with one reviewer characterizing the book as, “An impressive and deftly crafted work of seminal scholarship, Latino Access to Higher Education is especially recommended for professional and academic library Latino Studies, Educational Studies, and American Demography Studies reference collections and supplemental studies reading lists,” by The Midwest Book Review/Reviewer’s Bookwatch/November 2015.

The book signing event is sponsored by the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce, IBC Bank, the Eagle Pass Public Library, and supported by the Eagle Pass ISD and the Consulate of Mexico in Eagle Pass.  Considering the significance of education for our communities, it is unfolding into a community-wide event, and thus please join us on December 4, 2015.  For additional details, please see the announcement flyer at the following link: http://www.eaglepasstexas.com/2015/10/book-signing/.  The flyer may also be viewed at:  http://www.eaglepasstexas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Book-Signing.pdf.

The book is now available through the Publisher (http://www.ccthomas.com/details.cfm?P_ISBN13=9780398090913) and Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Latino-Access-Higher-Education-Twenty-first/dp/0398090912/ref=la_B001JS0BRY_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1443636240&sr=1-8).  Books will also be available for purchase at the event.

As for the sequence of activities, the agenda is still being finalized.  As of now, Chamber President William “Billy” Davis will be making opening remarks and Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, Mexican Consulate Ismael Naveja Macias, and Maverick County Judge David Saucedo will also make a few brief comments.  Others in attendance (confirmed) will include Sheriff Tom Schmerber, Chief Alberto Guajardo, Lt. Aldo Escamilla, Captain Fred Knoll (Del Rio Police Department), and Vice-President of SWTJC Gilbert Bermea, among others from our communities and various institutions in the region, including Carrizo Springs, Del Rio, Piedras Negras, Uvalde, and San Antonio (e.g., UTSA).  Photographer Christy Hightower from San Antonio will be in attendance to capture the event.

Again, please join us on what will be a memorable moment!
